Sutton-Mattocks & Co LLP was established in 1929 by Francis George Sutton-Mattocks. After serving in the First World War (for which he was awarded Chevalier of the Légion d'honneur), Mr Sutton-Mattocks qualified as a solicitor and a few years later set up the new firm in Barnes – in the same premises we operate from today.
Three generations of the Sutton-Mattocks family have worked in the firm. Mr Sutton-Mattocks’ son Terry joined at 17 and continued there until the age of 79. In 1992, Terry received a certificate recognising his 50 years as a practising solicitor. Terry’s daughter Alison began at the firm in 1983 and today works from our Barnes office.
The firm’s commitment to providing high-quality legal advice and a personable approach has been a constant since its establishment almost a century ago. Our Senior Partner, Jonathan Walsh, joined the firm in 1999, and under his leadership, Sutton-Mattocks Solicitors has gone from strength to strength.
As part of our continued growth plans, Sutton-Mattocks was acquired by Bindmans LLP on 1 December 2023.

Sutton-Mattocks is delighted by this significant move and the opportunities it will bring to both our staff and clients. It will enable us to offer a wider range of services to our clients while continuing to offer them the highest level of client care. We will continue to operate from our existing offices.
